RECOMMENDATION: No objection to proposed 8-ft high black vinyl coated chain link fence to enclose two outdoor storage areas at the Washington Canoe Club as shown in supplemental drawings dated 12 November 2008 which indicate section of fence in front of the building deleted for unobstructed view of facade from the river. Wood slats are not approved; fence to be screened by landscaping. File new submission for a more permanent solution for review by the Commission when ready. Refer to the Historic Preservation Review Board.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed awning as shown in supplemental drawings dated 11 December 2008 which indicate awning no taller than 3-ft high, extending to cover the window and door, and with lettering on 8-inch high valance reading "Cafe Tu-O-Tu". Attachments must be installed through mortar joints and not into bricks. Signs on side panels were not approved and were deleted from permit application. Existing menu sign, storefront sign and wall mounted light fixtures above storefront, installed without review or permit, were not approved and must be removed no later than 31 January 2009. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

File new submission of working drawings, including details and dimensions, with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.
