RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the final design for the construction of a new five-story office building for the DC Department of Employment Services as shown in materials received and dated 5 June 2008. Design conforms to previously approved concept (see case number CFA 18/NOV/04-13). Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the installation of rooftop photovoltaic panels on the roof of the North Building of the Department of Energy Headquarters, as shown in materials received and dated 2 June 2008.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the temporary installation of three electrochromic windows on the sixth floor of the west facade of the North Building of the Department of Energy Headquarters, for a two-year duration, as shown in materials received and dated 2 June 2008.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the installation of additional safety/security grilles at the entrance of the McPherson Square Metro Station in the three openings on the northeast corner of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs headquarters building. The new grilles are to match the existing grille, as shown in materials received and dated 23 May 2008.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the temporary installation of two double and one single re-locatable classroom units on the school grounds, as shown in material received and dated 3 June 2008, provided the classroom units are in place for no more than four years or until the renovations on the main school building are completed. RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the installation of a new metal fence to replace existing chain-link fence and new landscaping, as shown in material received and dated 9 June 2008. Refer to the Historic Preservation Review Board.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the proposed donor recognition program, which includes lettering on the fixed-glass center panel of the entranceway to the Public Education Center, and an inscribed inscription on the inside face of the terrace wall of the Peacemaker Plaza facing the main atrium. RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the revised concept design for a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge to connect the Metropolitan Branch Trail to the Rhode Island Avenue Metro Station over Rhode Island Avenue and the CSX railway tracks, as shown in materials received and dated 5 June 2008. Design conforms to previously approved concept (see case number CFA 25/JAN/05-15).

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the installation of vendor signs as shown in materials received and dated 6 June 2008.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the proposed waterproofing repairs to the plaza deck; grading modifications for improved drainage and handicap access; elimination of handrails at doorway; and the installation of new lawn panels with curbs, as shown in Option A, in the materials received and dated 5 June 2008.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the installation of recycled synthetic slate tiles and solar roof tiles to replace existing 78-year old natural slate roof, as shown in material received and dated 5 and 12 June 2008. (Previous: CFA 19/OCT/06-5) Refer to the Historic Preservation Review Board.
