RECOMMENDATION: The Commission regrets that several window openings were completed prior to review or permit and notes that the District Government issued a stop work order on 22 August 2007 and that a skylight and areaway alterations were thereafter completed without review or permit. The Commission remains concerned that the front facade of this significant building has been compromised during this period of unpermitted construction, as evidenced by observable continued settling. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed wood window and door, skylight, mechanical and areaway alterations at rear, and new hand-crimped copper roofs at historic ell and raised roofs at 1980s rear additions, as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 15 January 2009. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.
