Existing and proposed sled-mounted antennas will have cylindrical stealth screening painted light gray. Existing and proposed antennas mounted to penthouse wall and stealth screened equipment mounted as low as possible on wall will be painted to match the colors of the brick wall behind. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit. The Commission encourages the Board of Gateway Georgetown to work with other service providers with antennas on the roof to screen existing antennas in a similar fashion.

RECOMMENDATION: The Commission regrets that work was installed not conforming to approved design, and additional signs, light fixtures and menu box were installed prior to review or permit. Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for existing menu box, gooseneck and spot light fixtures, and menu sign on projecting bracket all of which are not appropriate to the historic building or the historic district. Recommend small menu box be placed behind the glass on bay window and that light fixtures previously approved be installed (see case file under O.G. 10-040). Non-conforming lights, menu box and signs must be removed no later than 31 May 2011. Replacement window installed on first floor of bay was not sized correctly and must be replaced with the correct window as previously approved no later than 31 August 2011. Existing windows on second floor are the responsibility of tenant at 1073 Wisconsin Ave. NW and were addressed under separate permit application (see case file under O.G. 11-018).

Recommend further study of etching of logo on glass on entry door. Internally-illuminated face on the letters was not approved and was deleted from this permit application. A blade sign in this location is not appropriate, was not approved and was deleted from this permit application. All other free-standing signs for this business, which are not appropriate to the historic district, must be removed no later than 30 May 2011.
