Witold Rybczynski

Witold Rybczynski is the Martin and Margy Meyerson Professor of Urbanism at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Design. He is the author of several books and frequently contributes to publications such as the New York Times, Atlantic Monthly, Architectural Record and Preservation. His books include The Perfect House: A Journey with the Renaissance Master Andrea Palladio, The Look of Architecture, City Life: Urban Expectations in a New World and Home: A Short History of an Idea. Mr. Rybczynski's book A Clearing in the Distance: Frederick Law Olmsted and America in the Nineteenth Century, won numerous awards, including the J. Anthony Lukas Book Prize and the Christopher Award. Books to which Mr. Rybczynski has contributed include the Encyclopedia Americana and Booknotes: Stories from American History. He became an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects in 1993 and Senior Fellow of Design Futures Institute in 2003. He is a member of the Council of Advisors, Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America and the Monuments, Memorials and Museums Consultant Group and an advisor to the Library of American Landscape History. Mr. Rybczynski holds a Master of Architecture degree from McGill University.
