OG 12–099 (HPA 12–174) Consent CalendarOld Georgetown Board Meeting The following list of projects will not require a presentation before the Old Georgetown Board and are recommended by the Commission of Fine Arts staff to the Board for approval without public review. Once adopted by the Old Georgetown Board, the recommendations will be submitted as part of the Old Georgetown Act Appendix to the next meeting of the Commission of Fine Arts. The concept or permit paperwork will be returned to the District government within five business days of the Commission's meeting. Items may be removed from the Consent Calendar at the discretion of the OGB chairman; requests to review a particular case at the public meeting must be received by close of business on the Monday preceding the public meeting (or the next business day if Monday is a Federal holiday). 1. OG 12–053 (HPA 12–084) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed rooftop solar panels PROVIDED panels are not visible from the street as shown on mock–up installation and documented on supplemental information dated 18 January 2012. There will not be any cables or conduits on front facade. 2. OG 12–085 (HPA 12–139) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed wood trim including new window casings, door surrounds and cornice as shown in supplemental drawings dated 19 January 2012 PROVIDED detailing matches those found at 1312–1314 36th St NW, including trim board between houses and corner boards at the either end. Recommend applicant consider replacing the doors with four panel doors to bring the character of the facade closer to its original condition. 3. OG 12–098 (HPA 12–173) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: The Commission regrets that the awning, signs, light fixtures, rear portal and gate, fence and alterations to the rear were installed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to storefront, sign scheme composed of lettering reading Little Viet Garden back–lit and pin–mounted to cornice and fabric awnings within the openings as shown on supplemental drawings dated __ January 2012. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to rear, including low metal fence and gate as shown in supplemental drawings dated 26 January 2012. Recommend down–light fixtures on lampposts at rear. Single awning covering architectural features on facade, sign scheme, light fixtures with exposed conduits, neon signs, and new features constructed of wood at the rear were not approved and must be removed no later than 30 April 2012. 4. OG 12–100 (HPA 12–175) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for replacing existing slate with dark green slate and removal of skylights provided metal ventilator is replicated per drawings dated 19 January 2012. 5. OG 12–101 (HPA 12–176) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for internally–illuminated 12"–tall lettering with opaque faces reading "LOFT" to be located atop projecting bay. 6. OG 12–110 (HPA 12–185) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to openings on rear and side of main house, and for alterations for new second floor porch as shown in supplemental drawings dated 26 January 2012 which indicate railing within the new door openings. Chimney on rear ell will be retained in place. 7. OG 12–111 (HPA 12–186) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to concept design for proposed alterations to garage at rear alley including extension of foot print to the property line and a gable roof with a ridge line no taller than 15 ft high as shown in supplemental drawings dated 26 January 2012. File new submission of working drawings, including details and dimensions, with permit application for review by the Commission. Note that The L'Enfant Trust holds an easement on t his property. 8. OG 12–112 (HPA 12–187) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to concept design for proposed one–story rear addition of solarium as shown on supplemental drawings dated 26 January 2012. File new submission of working drawings, including details and dimensions, with permit application for review by the Commission. Note that The L'Enfant Trust holds an easement on this property. 9. OG 12–114 (HPA 12–189) DRAFT RECOMEMNDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement of second floor windows on the front facade and on the side wall with all–wood single–glazed windows with 7/8–inch true–divide–lite muntins as shown in supplemental drawings dated 26 January 2012 PROVIDED details match the details of the existing wood window on the first floor which is to remain in place. The shutters will be removed as part of the scope of the work. 10. OG 12–115 (HPA 12–190) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection for issuance of proposed replacement casement and fixed, wood, _____–glazed windows at front of building. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re–submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit. Other SubmissionsOld Georgetown Board Meeting 1. OG 12–061 (HPA 12–106) RECOMMENDATION: Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for rubber membrane roof with skylights at the terrace level which, as proposed, is not appropriate in terms of materials. File new submission of detailed and dimensioned drawings for a metal roof with skylights with a permit application for review by the Commission. 2. OG 12–065 (HPA 12–113) RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action. Case was withdrawn by applicant. Submission materials were not sufficient for permit review. File a new submission of detailed drawings for a replacement window standard for all the units in the condominium building with a permit application for review by the Commission. 3. OG 12–090 (HPA 12–149) RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action. Submission materials and a site visit of 18 January 2012 indicate that proposed alterations for generator within the courtyard of LXR and Nevils Hall will not be visible from public thoroughfare. Refer to the historic Preservation Review Board. 4. OG 12–093 (HPA 12–166) RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action. Submission materials and a site visit of 18 January 2012 indicate that proposed alterations to masonry opening at rear will not be visible from public thoroughfare. Refer to the historic Preservation Review Board. Any alterations to the design that would make the work visible must be resubmitted to the Commission for review prior to issuance of permit. 5. OG 12–094 (HPA 12–169) RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action. Submission materials and a site visit of 18 January 2012 indicate that proposed replacement of metal roof at rear will not be visible from public thoroughfare. Refer to the historic Preservation Review Board. Recommend relocation of rooftop mechanical equipment to a location where it will not be visible from public thoroughfare. Any alterations to the design that would make the work visible must be resubmitted to the Commission for review prior to issuance of permit. 6. OG 12–102 (HPA 12–177) RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action. Submission materials and a site visit of 18 January 2012 indicate that proposed storage sheds installed within Oxygen Tank Courtyard and behind the approved screen wall will not be visible from public thoroughfare. See previous recommendation under case OG 10–189. Refer to the historic Preservation Review Board. Any alterations to the design that would make the work visible must be resubmitted to the Commission for review prior to issuance of permit. 7. OG 12–113 (HPA 12–188) RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action.
