Other SubmissionsDraft Consent CalendarOld Georgetown Board Meeting The following list of projects will not require a presentation before the Old Georgetown Board and are recommended by the Commission of Fine Arts staff to the Board for approval without public review. Once adopted by the Old Georgetown Board, the recommendations will be submitted as part of the Old Georgetown Act Appendix to the next meeting of the Commission of Fine Arts. The concept or permit paperwork will be returned to the District government within five business days of the Commission's meeting. Items may be removed from the Consent Calendar at the discretion of the OGB chairman; requests to review a particular case at the public meeting must be received by close of business on the Monday preceding the public meeting (or the next business day if Monday is a Federal holiday). 1. OG 10-094 (HPA 10-164) RECOMMENDATION: Applicant elected to pursue a full window restoration for Hyde Elementary School. Previous proposal for the replacement of windows was withdrawn. 2. OG 10-117 (HPA 10-223) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed roof supported by metal brackets over entry door as shown in supplemental drawings dated 17 June 2010. Previously proposed addition of enclosed vestibule was not approved and was deleted from this permit application. 3. OG 10-169 (HPA 10-297) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed metal stairs and addition of storefront at second floor level as shown in supplemental drawings dated 21 June 2010 which conform to approved concept design. Existing planters, mechanical equipment and other obstructions to passageway must be removed as part of the scope of work prior to construction of new stairs. See previous approval for relocation of equipment to roof top of elevator tower with louvered screen under case OG 08-323. 4. OG 10-171 (HPA 10-299) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed brick work for window flashing which is repair work. Completed work will match existing conditions, including color and thickness of mortar joints. Windows will not be replaced. 5. OG 10-177 (HPA 10-315) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to front concrete steps and terrace for facing with slate as shown in supplemental drawings dated 17 June 2010. Recommend replacement trees, which were part of approval for rear addition, be installed as previously proposed and approved. See previous recommendation under case OG 09-288. 6. OG 10-180 (HPA 10-320) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for painted "Madewell" sign with 13-inch tall "M" over new wood doors, and single light transoms with frosted glass as indicated in drawings dated 22 June 2010. 7. OG 10-181 (HPA 10-321) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed sign scheme, including back-lit letters no taller than 24 inches high reading "UGG" pin-mounted above second floor windows as shown in supplemental drawings dated 17 June 2010. PROVIDED attachment through mortar joints only and that existing light fixtures on roof of storefront and exposed electric conduit are removed as part of this project. No alterations to the storefront are part of this permit application. 8. OG 10-182 (HPA 10-323) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to planter in courtyard at Canal Square for new fountain clad in fieldstone as shown in supplemental drawings dated 18 June 2010. 9. OG 10-183 (HPA 10-324) DRAFT RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed 5'-1" x 7'-0" fieldstone planter off alley as shown in supplemental drawings dated 18 June 2010. 10. OG 10-087 (HPA 10-156) RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action. Concept case has been inactive for a period of time. 2. OG 10-135 (HPA 10-251) RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action. Concept application was superseded by new concept application under case OG 10-179. 3. OG 10-186 (HPA 10-327) RECOMMENDATION: Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for proposed demolition of front porch and replacement with proposed smaller porch. The porch is an integral feature of the original design of this house, part of a group of buildings including the adjacent rowhouses on 30th Street and two rowhouses on Cambridge Place, NW, all built in 1909. The porch is a contributing element to the historic character of the building, the row, and the Old Georgetown Historic District. Recommend reconstruction of porch to its original condition, replacing non-historic elements, repairing historic elements, and replicating details as required. See previous recommendation against the concept design for the removal of the porch reviewed as case OG 10-158 (HPA 10-286). 4. OG 10-187 (HPA 10-328) RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action. Submitted materials and a site visit of 15 June indicate that proposed reconstruction of brick garden wall will not be visible from a public thoroughfare. Refer to the Historic Preservation Review Board. 5. OG 10-195 (HPA 10-336) RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action. Submitted materials and a site visit of 15 June 2010 indicate that proposed alterations and additions to rear will not be visible from a public thoroughfare. Refer to the Historic Preservation Review Board. 6. OG 10-199 (HPA 10-340) RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action. Submitted materials and a previous site visit during concept review (see case OG 10-139) indicate that proposed paving of interior courtyards and new terrace associated with new garden wall will not be visible from a public thoroughfare.
