RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the reinstallation of the Benjamin Rush statue that was removed from the the Potomac Annex without approval, and no objection to the recreation and reconstruction of the three–tiered granite base to match the original, which was removed and demolished, as shown in materials received and dated 23 January 2013.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the proposed exterior and interior alterations in the non–historic space currently leased by by Barnes & Noble which will be leased to H&M clothing store in the near future, as shown in materials received and dated 5 February 2013. The work includes: increasing the height of a portion of the roof adjacent to the parking garage to a level just below the existing parapet allowing for a mezzanine level to be created within the retail space; the removal of the existing framework that formerly held a theater sign marquee on exterior of the building; and the removal and relocation of HVAC equipment.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the final designs for the temporary installation of an exhibition structure, "Sprout Space," on the west lawn of the National Building Museum grounds, provided that the installation will not exceed one year from date of approval and that the grounds will be restored to the previous condition when removed. In addition, no objection to the permanent installation of an electrical power supply to the west lawn, which can be used for future exhibitions and special events, as shown in materials received and dated 11 February 2013.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the final plans for a temporary structure to house the service equipment of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (FEMS) Engine House No.14 at 401 Farragut Street, as shown in materials received and dated 7 February 2013. The FEMS Engine House No. 14 will occupy the temporary structure for the duration of the renovation of the firehouse at 4801 North Capitol Street, NE.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to the final plans for proposed alterations, including repair to masonry, replacement wood doors to match original doors, new window between doors on front facade to match original condition, repair of existing historic windows, replacement of non–historic windows with custom–made wood windows matching details and profiles of historic windows, and new custom–made wood awning storm windows set back from face of brick, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 13 February 2013. (See case OG 13–089, HPA 13–141.) New shutters were deleted from the scope of work. File new submission of drawings for new mechanical systems, to eliminate individual window units and vent on side wall, for review by the Commission.
