Letter

Dear Chief Ramsey:

The Commission reviewed the design development for the Multifunction Facility building for the Metropolitan Police Department to be located at 2175 West Virginia Avenue, NE, during its meeting of 16 October. The members were happy to see that many of the powerful design elements that we liked so much during the concept review in June have been retained. However, the elimination of the returns of the parapets over the roof will give the impression of a colorful facade detached from the building it frames. As such, the Commission recommends that, if the design is going to succeed, the parapet returns shown in the approved concept should be incorporated in the final design.

The staff will be able to review the new drawings that reflect the proposed change. With the submission of the revised drawings, the project can be considered approved.

Sincerely,

/s/
Donald A. Capoccia
