Letter

Dear Major Domahoski:

During its meeting of 19 May 2005, the Commission reviewed and approved the revised concept for a new one-story building to house the U.S. Coast Guard Station on Bolling Air Force Base. The Commission appreciates the response to the concerns of the previous submission. The detailing of the historically-based revised design is much improved including the changes in window configuration and the reduction in the amount of brick on the facades. In addition, the height of the fence seems appropriate to dissuade pedestrians from entering the site. Most importantly, the massing of the new design responds more directly to the program for the building.

If there are no significant changes to the design, final review of this project is delegated to the staff. Please submit the final design documents for review when ready. The Commission looks forward to the review of future projects for the Coast Guard and Bolling Air Force Base. As always, the staff is available to assist you.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas Luebke, AIA
