Letter

Dear Ms. Fore:

The Commission of Fine Arts reviewed designs for the reverse of the 2006, 2007, and 2008 American Eagle Platinum Proof coin series at its meeting on 21 July 2005. The Commission members made the following recommendations:

2006 Reverse

The first choice was design L-3, with the request that the eagle be worked out in more detail so that it does not look like a line drawing when minted. Designs L-4 , L-6, and L-7 were also mentioned, but in each case it was asked that they be simplified; for L-6 it was asked that the columns with eagles on each side of the figure be removed.

2007 Reverse

The unanimous choice was design E-6.

2008 Reverse

Design J-10 was mentioned, but there was no enthusiasm for any of the designs, and the Mint's representative was asked if the Commission could see some additional drawings for this coin.

Sincerely,
