Dear Mr. Gittens:

In the meeting of 27 July, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the proposal for an environmental art installation in the windows of the Fourteenth Street Bridge Tenders' House on the Arland D. Williams Jr. Memorial Bridge. The Commission praised the design intent of the artist, Mikyoung Kim, as shown in her renderings of the proposed effect of the illuminated boxes to be placed in the windows of the Tenders' House. The members approved the concept design with the provision that a functioning mockup of the proposal be inserted in one of the windows so that the lighting effect can be evaluated before the review of the final plans.

The Commission looks forward to seeing the demonstration and to the development of this interesting proposal. Please coordinate with the Commission staff to schedule the site visit. As always, the staff is available to assist you.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas Luebke, AIA
