Consent Calendar: CFA Meeting — 17 April 2014

No objection to the final plans for the rehabilitation and replacement of plant materials in the front garden of the Blair–Lee House, as shown in materials received and dated 3 April 2014. Work will follow the conclusion of the previously approved facade reconstruction project at the Blair House.

No objection to the final plans for the installation of a clock with four faces in the existing circular openings in the clock tower of the Sidney Yates Building, as shown in materials received and dated 3 April 2014. The original plans for the building indicated that there was to be a clock in the tower but it was never installed, leaving the five–foot–diameter openings enclosed with glass.

No objection to the final design for the installation of a temporary outdoor food, beverage, and entertainment venue on the west lawn of the National Building Museum grounds, as shown in materials received and dated 31 March 2014, provided that the installation will be in place from approximately 1 May to 30 August 2014 and that the grounds will be restored when removed.

No objection to the concept design for the proposed building modifications that include a new main entrance on the south facade, a relocated east entrance, and a new drop–off area south of the building, on the east side of Dahlgren Park, as shown in materials received and dated 3 April 2014, provided the decorative metal accents on the free–standing entrance portals either be eliminated, or be simplified to more closely recall metal trusses found in many of the Navy Yard's historic buildings.

No objection to the proposed stream restoration and stormwater management retrofit project for Springhouse Run (a tributary of Hickey Run) and the installation of stormwater management features for the the R Street parking lot, as shown in materials received and dated 28 March 2014.

No objection to the final plans for the Dr. Carter G. Woodson Memorial, as shown in materials received and dated 3 April 2014. Final design of the sculpture and base conform to previously approved design, and landscape design conforms to the previous recommendations.

No objection to the final design for the proposed building modifications and additions to convert the existing and unused Merritt Elementary School building into the D.C. Police Department's 6th District Headquarters and offices for the Youth Investigation Branch, as shown in materials received and dated 4 April 2014.

No objection to the proposed additions, alterations, and new landscaping for the Kramer Middle School building, which includes: a new entrance terrace and accessibility ramp, new mechanical penthouse enclosure, replacement doors and windows, and new landscaping, as shown in materials received and dated 3 April 2014.

No objection to the final design for the renovation and alterations to the Shaed Elementary School for the Charter School Incubator Initiative, as shown in materials received and dated 3 April 2014. Final design conforms to previously approved concept design.

No objection to the final plans for the proposed restoration and renovation of the Strand Theater, located at 5129 Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, NE, as shown in materials received and dated 3 April 2014.

No objection to the installation of porous flexible paving (Flexipave) to cover the tree boxes along M Street and Wisconsin Avenue, NW in the Old Georgetown Historic District, as shown in materials received and dated 21 March 2014. Coordinate with CFA staff for review of material color samples on site as they are developed to determine final selection prior to ordering materials.
