The Commission regrets that the alterations to the storefront and new doors were completed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to storefront, including removal of non-historic wood trim, repair of historic cornice with new dentils and painting of aluminum storefront system to eliminate milled finish, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 31 October 2013. Proposed panels under the show windows were not approved and were deleted from this permit application. Note: any modification of the approved design during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of the permit.

Returned without Action. Permit application for new light fixtures for ATM at BB&T Bank was withdrawn by written request from the applicant.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations, including replacement of all-wood 1/1 windows on front facade, repair or replica of dormer windows with all-wood single-glazed 3/1 true divided lite muntins windows and for new gate at driveway as shown in supplemental drawings dated __ November 2013 which indicate gate swing does not project past the front wall of building at 3141 Dumbarton or onto the public sidewalk. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design made during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for the approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to concept design for proposed third floor addition and alterations to rear ell as shown in supplemental drawings dated 1 November 2013 which indicate partial retention of rear brick wall, balcony at second floor and flat roof on addition. Recommend sills of window openings on east wall be raised 18 inches above grade to a consistent height, elimination of deck at third floor, and reconfiguration of windows on east facade of addition. Proposed terracotta cladding of brick wall was not approved and was deleted from this design. File new submission at DCRA of working drawings, including details, dimensions and cut-sheets, with permit application for review by the Commission.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed banner with lettering reading 'Maxalto' only and mounted to the corner at the third floor facing Cady's Alley as shown in supplemental drawings dated 29 October 2013 provided a woven fabric is used. Lettering for 'Furniture Collection' was not approved and was deleted from this permit application. Note: Any modification of the approved design during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of the permit.

No objection to concept design for 2/2 windows at front elevation with new storefront and rear addition per supplemental drawings dated 24 October 2013. Recommend further study of clerestory windows and top of party walls. File new submission at DCRA of working drawings, including dimensions and details, with application for review by the Commission.

The Commission regrets that the mechanical equipment and ductwork was installed on top of roof of addition where it is visible from public thoroughfare contrary to approved design. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to existing rooftop equipment, including lowering units and modifying placement and shape of ductwork as shown in supplemental drawings dated 25 October 2013 PROVIDED that these modifications will keep ductwork from being visible. Corrective work to be completed no later than 28 February 2014. Note: The L\u146 Enfant Trust holds an easement on this property. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design made during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for the approval prior to issuance of permit.

Returned without Action. Concept case for alterations to rear and outdoor seating terrace was withdrawn at the written request of applicant. The Commission regrets that the glass enclosure at the rear yard and the shed erected in the public alley behind 1025 31st St were completed and that the rear yard at 1027 31st was entirely paved prior to review or permit. Note is made that the sign scheme on front facade does not conform to the previous recommendation under case OG 11-073. Remove wall mounted image logo which was not approved. Electric and mechanical conduits left exposed on street facade are not acceptable. File new submission at DCRA with comprehensive drawings, including dimensions and details, for all work completed prior a review or permit and for proposed alterations for review by the Commission.

No objection to concept design for proposed alterations, including flag pole, sliding door with side lights, new window opening on front facade, replacement wood windows with simulated-divided-lite muntins, alterations for new metal door at alley, blade sign, awning and light fixtures as shown in supplemental drawings dated 29 October 2013. Proposed roof top addition was not approved and was deleted from the scope of the work in the concept design. File new submission at DCRA of construction drawings, including dimensions, cut-sheets for windows and doors, product literature for mechanical equipment, and architectural details, with permit application for review by the Commission. Provide a sample of window selection for review.

No objection to concept design for new shed dormer with offset in west wall per supplemental drawings dated 28 October 2013, provided wood casement windows have 12-lights. File new submission at DCRA of working drawings, including dimensions and details, with application for review by the Commission.

Returned without Action. Permit application for partial demolition of garage was withdrawn by written request from the applicant.

No objection to issuance of permit to remove original concrete steps and install squared-off Indiana limestone blocks, repointing brick kneewall as required, and re-installing metal railing per drawings dated 13 September and 18 October 2013. Note: Any modification of the approved design during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of the permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to storefront, including new glazing and masonry base in show windows, back-lit sign composed of acrylic letters painted black and no taller than 9 inches reading 'Pandora', and repair of existing door with new glazing on door and transom as shown in supplemental drawings dated 20 November 2013 which indicate retention of existing arches on show windows. Awnings were deleted from this permit application and will be submitted separately. No objection to sign on construction barricade and show windows as shown in supplemental drawings dated 14 November 2013 which limits text to name of business and 'coming Soon' with no images. Note: any modification of the approved design during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of the permit.

The Commission regrets that the storefront sign was installed prior to review or permit. No objection to the issuance of the permit for the proposed woven fabric banner with 6 inch high lettering reading 'Steven Alan' as shown in supplemental drawings dated 25 October 2013. The use of vinyl for the banner was not approved. Remove sign on storefront window and relocate 18 inches behind the glass no later than 31 December 2013. File new submission at DCRA with detailed drawings for any sign on storefront for review by the Commission. Note: any modification of the approved design during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of the permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for one-story rear addition with copper roof per drawings dated 25 October 2013. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design made during DCRA Technical Review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for roof addition to link two existing dormers at south slope per OG 07-128 and drawings dated 18 October 2013. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design made during DCRA Technical Review must be re-submitted to the Commission for the approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit to install new green slate roof on mansard and gable ends of main building to match original with lead-coated copper metalwork replicating existing profiles. No objection to issuance of permit to replace existing painted tin roof with Revere Freedom-Gray zinc-tin alloy coated copper with one-inch hand-crimped seams painted red to match adjacent roof per drawings dated 18 and 25 October 2013.

No objection to general concept design for one-story rear addition per drawings dated 24 October 2013 provided parking pad is for one parallel-park car. File new submission at DCRA of working drawings, including dimensions and details, with application for review by the Commission.

The Commission regrets that the alteration to the masonry opening was completed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for existing storefront and for proposed woven fabric awning to match previously approved awnings (see case OG 13-100) mounted within the masonry opening and without lettering on valance. Recommend that joints in new brick work match original joints. Note: any modification of the approved design during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of the permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for new 4-panel wood doors, wood 6-light windows at first story, and 2/2 wood windows at second story per drawings submitted 25 October 2013, provided muntins are 1 3/4-inch wide.

No objection to the issuance of the permit for proposed installation of five telecommunications antennas for Verizon Wireless mounted to the screen of the mechanical penthouse at the Pasquerilla Healthcare Center building. The top of the antennas and mounting rods will be below the concrete beam. Antennas will be painted to match the color of the screen behind them. Note: any modification of the approved design during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of the permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to storefront, including removal of awning, security grille, light fixtures and exposed conduit, new woven fabric awning with lettering for 'Amina Rubinacci' on 8 inch valance, replacement full-lite wood door and transom, new glazing on show window and new light fixture as shown in supplemental drawings dated 4 November 2013 which indicate that plane of glass on window matches placement of glazing on other show windows in the row with a wood sill, and that the light fixture will not shine up. Top of awning to align with others in the row. Note: any modification of the approved design during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of the permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to rear windows for metal doors as shown in drawings dated 18 October 2013. Note: any modification of the approved design during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of the permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for glazed storefront windows and entrance doors per drawings dated 24 October 2013, provided the building address number is displayed without the street name. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design made during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for the approval prior to issuance of permit.

The Commission regrets that south wall of historic ell was demolished beyond of the scope of permit and construction of 2-story dog-leg in-fill addition was started prior to review and contrary to approved design (see OG 12-266). No objection to issuance of permit for a one-story frame construction rear addition with metal roof and a two-story in-fill addition in dog leg. The other elements of the approved design including: return of rear yard to original grade, no expansion of basement and wood windows that match dimensions, profile and detailing of original windows with use of half-screens are still part of the scope of the work under this permit. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design made during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for the approval prior to issuance of permit.

Recommend against issuance of permit for brick veneer structure in public right-of-way for ATM machine, awning, and mural which are not associated with adjacent retail establishment per drawings dated 18 October 2013 and would represent unprecedented construction in public space.
