File new submission of working drawings, including details, dimensions, landscape plan for the site, cut-sheets and product literature, with permit application for review by the Commission.

Returned without Action. Permit application for banner was superseded by new permit application for sign scheme under case OG 11-180 for 3319 Cady's Alley, NW.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed one-story rear addition at first floor level as shown in supplemental drawings dated __ June 2011 which indicate wood windows and 5/8 inch thick siding. Screen fence around rooftop exhaust vents and sign were deleted from this permit application. File separate submission of detailed and dimensioned drawings for sign with permit application for review by the Commission. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed revised sign scheme composed of halo-lit letters no taller than 12 inches high reading 'Calvin Klein underwear' on a metal panel in the transom of new storefront, and for lettering no taller than 4-inches high once on each shop window as shown in supplemental drawings dated 18 May 2011 which indicate opaque polished stainless-steel face on back-lit lettering. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

The Commission regrets that signs were installed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed sign scheme for 'Alessi' including 2'-2" x 2'-2" banner as shown in supplemental drawings dated 18 May 2011 which indicate lettering no taller than 12 inches high applied to transom glass on storefront to replace larger lettering. All signs limited to lettering reading 'Alessi' ONLY - listing of cities, which were not approved, must be removed no later than 31 July 2011. Bracket for banner must match bracket for existing banner for Leopold's. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed sign scheme for 'Boffi' including back-lit pin-mounted letters no taller than 7 inches high and new applied graphics on storefront window with letters no taller than 12 inches high to replace larger lettering (which was not approved) as shown in supplemental drawings dated 19 May 2011. All signs limited to lettering reading 'Boffi' ONLY - listing of names and cities, which were not approved, must be removed no later than 31 July 2011. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed repair and replacement-in-kind of wood cornice, soffit and missing bracket finials to match details and dimensions of existing. No objection to issuance of permit for replacement of metal roof with standing seam metal roof to match dimensions, detailing and hand-pressed seams of existing roof as shown in supplemental drawings dated 17 May 2011. No objection to issuance of permit for temporary pole-mounted real estate sign for new building complex for the duration of construction. Recommend sign be lowered to no more than 2-ft above grade. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations and sign scheme for 'Gap / Gap Kids' as shown in Option 1 of supplemental drawings dated 19 May 2011 which indicate high awnings with lettering on valance of shorter awnings, and new bk lighting over sign with 1'-6' high lettering reading 'GAP'. Projecting sign and/or banner were not approved and were deleted from this permit application. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed demolition of greenhouse and for new window opening. New wood window to match detailing and profile of existing windows with 1 1/4-inch muntin. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed work on public space in coordination with new brick driveway for new garage structure (reviewed separately under case OG 11-198), including reduction on width of curb-cut and brick apron to match brick on sidewalk as shown in supplemental drawings dated 13 June 2011 which indicate hoop design for sliding gate to match fence detailing. Alterations to concrete driveway in front of house for new Recommend AGAINST brick pavers on existing driveway in front of house were not approved and were deleted from this permit application. Recommend returning front yard of house to a landscape setting which is more appropriate to the character of the house and the historic district. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed one-car garage structure that will require demolition of existing garage as shown in drawings dated 13 June 2011. Brick and mortar on new garage structure must match those on existing house. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for proposed double-glazed insulated replacement windows which are not appropriate to this ca. 1864 historic building part of a row. Existing single glazed wood windows must be repaired. No objection to use of storm windows. See previous Recommendation under case OG 10-111. Note: applicant did not attend the OGB meeting where the project was reviewed.
