No objection to concept design for rear second story addition with patinated copper cladding and window alterations on east and north walls as shown in supplemental drawings received 24 November 2009. File new submission of working drawings including dimensions, details, and material samples with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.

No objection to general concept design for proposed 2-story-plus-basement rear addition and alterations. Recommend retention of rear brick wall at second floor level deleting 2-ft addition, treatment of rear elevation as wood porch filled in between brick walls, reduction of size of dormer windows as subordinate in scale to those below, and further study of rear deck in relation to ground plane. File a new submission of concept design development drawings for review by the Commission when ready.

No objection to concept proposal for new wood 1/1 double-hung window, single-light door and transom, and two awnings as shown in drawings dated 23 October 2009. Projecting sign is not approved. Remove volunteer tree and repair historic iron stair. Case superseded by OG 10-040.

The Commission regrets that construction of pergola was initiated prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed pergola PROVIDED a railing with traditional detailing is installed rather than the one proposed, the exposed CMU be parged, and the complete structure painted. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed 7-ft high replacement vertical board wood fence as shown on Type 'A' of supplemental drawings dated 1 December 2009. Fence must be stained or painted. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for second story rear porch enclosure with wood 2/2 windows as shown in drawings received 13 November 2009. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed solar panel system on roof PROVIDED installation is not visible from public thoroughfare. Recommend AGAINST meter box on front facade. Electric meter should remain in present location in basement. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement windows with 1/1 insulated wood windows by Kolbe as shown in supplemental drawings dated 24 November 2009 which indicate repair and retention of decorated arch panel, mullion and brick mold.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed two-story hyphen addition at rear as shown in supplemental drawings dated 11 December 2009, new front courtyard with railing to match adjacent property, and for repair of historic building. See case OG 09-344 for review of rest of 2-story rear addition. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit. File separate permit application for any sign scheme for review by the Commission when ready.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed rebuilding of existing brick garden wall to match existing, including vertical rowlock brick and scattered joints, re-using salvaged original brick, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 25 November 2009. Recommend installation of a metal fence to match existing one at 3053 Q St to return wall to original design. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed 2-story rear in-fill addition and alterations, including replacement wood front door and removal of door surround, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 9December 2009 which indicate 2/2 windows on rear facade. Recommend properly sized shutters on front facade. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for zinc gray standing seam metal roof as documented in drawings and materials submitted 24 November 2009.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed rear covered parking pad of rear alley with brick return wall on both sides. Option for metal column was not approved. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations, including partial side porch enclosure, rear window wells and replacement of second floor window as shown in supplemental drawings dated 1 December 2009, which indicate retention of existing brick pier at East end of wall. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

Recommend AGAINST concept design for proposed third floor addition which would be highly visible from streets and would be inappropriate to the character of this building and the historic district in general.

No objection to issuance of permit for shifting two existing windows upward at rear of residence as shown in drawings received 13 November 2009. Reuse existing windows and brickmoulds. Recreate segmental arches.

No objection to issuance of permit for repair of cast iron stair, new single-light wood front door and transom, double-hung show window, two black Sunbrella awnings with 12"-tall lettering, and lights as shown in drawings dated 23 November 2009.

No objection to issuance of public space permit for proposed flagpole for the Embassy of Liechtenstein as shown in supplemental information dated 25 November 2009.

Returned without Action. Submitted materials and previous submission indicate that proposed door alterations will not be visible from a public thoroughfare. Refer to the Historic Preservation Review Board.
