Suggest using freestanding table umbrellas or retractable awnings attached to the east facade of building and aligned so as not to block windows or decorative architectural elements. When resubmitting include site plan and elevation drawings of the building with new awning in place and details of attachments. Refer to the District of Columbia Historic Preservation Office for review.
