Dear Ms. Penney:
The staff of the Commission of Fine Arts has reviewed the final design submission from the D.C. Department of Transportation for the Rhode Island Avenue Pedestrian-Bicycle Bridge. The staff has no objections to the final plans and we appreciate your responsiveness to the Commission's recommendations made during its review of the project on 16 June 2008 to make the structural system of the bridge appear as simple and light as possible with columns supporting the elevated ramps and stairs.
With the authority delegated by the Commission at its meeting of 19 June 2008, we approve the final submission for this project as documented in the drawings and materials received and dated 29 September 2009. As always, the staff is available to assist you with future submissions.
