Dear Mr. McGill:
During its meeting of 19 May 2005, the Commission reviewed and disapproved the design for the temporary replacement of the existing guard booth at the 12th Street service courtyard at the Internal Revenue Service's Ariel Rios Building. The Commission members strongly suggest that this is an opportunity to design a guard booth that is appropriate to the Federal Triangle and its immediate surroundings.
We encourage you to work with our staff and coordinate with the Historic Preservation Division and the National Capital Planning Commission to come up with a more appropriate design for this feature. To assist you in this matter and in view of your time constraints, the final review is delegated to the staff.
