Recommendation
Recommend AGAINST the issuance of a permit for facade modifications, including the conversion of an existing window into a door on the north facade; the installation of a replacement door on the east facade, exterior facade lighting, replacement roof ladders, and a new metal coping; and the construction of a sidewalk cafe in public space that includes planters, two accessible ramps, masonry perimeter walls with decorative railing, and permeable pavers, as shown in materials received and dated 7 July 2025, due to a lack of consistency with the character of the historic building and the Massachusetts Avenue, NW, streetscape. Recommend further consultation with the staff of CFA and the DC Public Space Division on the public space design. Refer to DC Public Space Committee.
