Dear Mr. Rombach:

During its meeting of 15 July, the Commission reviewed and approved the final design for the perimeter security barriers for the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum, located at Independence Avenue and 6th Street. The architects are commended for the detailed presentation and for the development of the guard booth design in response to previous comments. The cadence of bollards on the north side of the building provides an interesting rhythm but the orientation and finish of the stainless steel bollards should continue to be investigated.

The Commission delegates the review of details and refinements to the staff and looks forward to the review of other projects for the Smithsonian Institution.

Sincerely,

/s/Frederick J. Lindstrom
