Dear Mr. Gabel:
In the meeting of 16 November, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the proposed final design of the Pentagon Memorial for the Victims of September 11, 2001. Due to the complexity of the design elements, the Commission decided to defer action until the anticipated on-site mock-up of a memorial unit is available for its inspection at the next meeting date of 18 January 2007. At that time, the Commission will provide its recommendation on the design.
This project will be placed on the Commission's agenda for 18 January 2007. No further submission materials or presentation will be necessary unless you are making further revisions to the proposed design; however, it would be helpful if you could provide the site model and material samples to assist in the Commission's continued discussion. The Commission staff will coordinate the site visit with your design team and is available should you require further assistance.
