In its meeting of 17 October, the Commission of Fine Arts approved, based on its prior review of the submission materials, a revised concept design for the renovation of and additions to an existing nine-story office building located at 300 Seventh Street, SW, to serve as the new headquarters of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. Expressing appreciation for the design team’s responsiveness to comments from previous reviews, the Commission members supported the revised design of the new glass curtainwall for the office tower portion of the building. They also cited the merits of the original scheme for the curtainwall presented in June 2019, which could be considered as the design is further developed.
Please coordinate the review of the final design with the staff which, as always, is available to assist you.
