Description
Exterior site identity and wayfinding signs for the Department of Homeland Security headquarters–Phase I. Final

Letter

Dear Ms. Wright:

In its meeting of 17 January, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the final design proposal for the first phase of an exterior identity and wayfinding sign program for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Headquarters on the St. Elizabeths West Campus at 2700 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE.

The Commission approved the sign program with the condition that the site identification signs are modified to include the occupant agency's proper name, "U.S. Department of Homeland Security," rather than the casual "Homeland Security" as shown in the design proposal, making the signs consistent with the formal designation of other federal government departments and agencies on signs within the capital city.

To complete the final approval of the sign proposal, please provide the Commission staff with a revised design for the sign graphics. The Commission looks forward to seeing future submissions for the St. Elizabeths campus.

Sincerely,
