Dear Mr. Peterson:

In its meeting of 18 September, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed alternative designs for a Congressional Gold Medal honoring the World War II members of the Civil Air Patrol, and provided the following recommendations.

The Commission members recommended obverse alternative #15 as the most elegant composition and the most illustrative of the range of duties and people involved in the Civil Air Patrol. They recommended reverse alternative #4, and suggested careful consideration of the typefaces so that this pairing of designs—possibly by different artists—will result in a well-composed medal.

As always, the staff is available to assist you with future submissions.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
