Letter

Dear Mr. Kayne:

In its meeting of 19 February, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed a concept design for a new recreation center and reconfigured playground at Friendship Park, also known as Turtle Park, located at 4500 Van Ness Street, NW. While expressing support for the effort to improve the park, the Commission did not take an action on the submission due to the insufficient documentation of the design and context. For the next submission, the Commission requested a more comprehensive set of drawings that includes: an overall site plan of the existing park; all building plans and elevations; designs for the new play yards; and a detailed landscape plan.

The Commission looks forward to the review of a new submission responding to these comments and encourages the project team to consult with the Commission staff, which is available to assist you.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
