Dear Mr. Peterson:

In its meeting of 19 May, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed alternative designs for the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center one-dollar commemorative coin, to be issued in support of the endowment for the existing museum facility adjacent to Fort Benning in Georgia.

For the obverse, the Commission members recommended alternative #3 due to the strong and familiar pose of the infantry leader and the recognizable setting on a rocky base. For the reverse, the Commission members recommended alternative #7 for its simplicity and clarity, and supported the museum board's preference for spelling out the denomination "One Dollar."

As always, the staff is available to assist you with future submissions.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
