Letter

Dear Ms. Wright:

In its meeting of 21 March, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed and approved the concept proposal for a public art installation, Try Angle by Jessica Stockholder, for the plaza of the Thomas P. O'Neill, Jr. Federal Building (Federal Office Building #8), located at 200 C Street, SW.

In their review of the proposal, the Commission members commented that the materials for the various red-colored paving types and the vertical sculptural element are critical to the success of the installation, and their selection should take into account durability and colorfastness. The Commission also suggested that special lighting should be considered to accent the installation at night, and that the potential conflict of surface utility elements should be avoided through careful technical coordination.

In its approval of the concept, the Commission delegated review of the final design to the staff, including the resolution of the remaining issues such as the selection of materials and construction details. As always, the staff is available to assist you with the final submission.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
