Letter

Dear Mr. Kayne:

In its meeting of 21 May, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed and approved revisions to the concept design for a new fire station for Engine Company 22, to be located at 6825 Georgia Avenue, NW.

The Commission members expressed appreciation for the responsiveness of the design team to their previous comments, and they supported the revised geometry and the playful coloration of the upper floor of the proposed building. They requested further design development and documentation of the cladding system of the second-story volume, possibly considering a more limited tonal treatment for the colored glass panels.

The Commission looks forward to the review of the next submission, which should include perspective views of the building. As always, the Commission staff is available to assist you.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
