Dear Ms. O'Dell:

In its meeting of 21 October, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the proposed layout of the quotations and identification text to be inscribed on the stone walls of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, approving the proposal as submitted. In their discussion of the identification text, the Commission members commented that the memorial will be sufficiently prominent and iconic that such identification may not be needed; they noted the multiple identification inscriptions proposed and recommended that no other identification signs be added to the site.

The Commission looks forward to further review of the remaining design details of the memorial. As always, the staff is available to assist you with the next submission.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas E. Luebke, AIA
