Letter

Dear Mr. Holcomb:

In the meeting of 21 September, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed and approved the National Capital Region Rail Pilot Project. The Commission members regret the necessity for such intensified and visible security measures in the nation’s capital city but understand the need to provide additional security along the rail line at this time.

The Commission appreciated the project team’s endeavors to reduce the visual clutter along the railroad and to preserve views from nearby streets, parks, and memorials. The Commission members requested that in the future when this system is abandoned, all unnecessary equipment, wires, and support poles associated with the project will be removed.

As always, the Commission staff is available should you require further guidance.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas Luebke, AIA
