The Commission regrets that the original masonry two-story rear wing collapsed during work on property. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed reconstruction of rear wing to match original, including jack arches at masonry openings, PROVIDED thickness of rear wall of main block of historic building at first floor level, which was removed, is physically expressed in new construction as shown in supplemental drawings dated 6 April 2010. No objection to issuance of permit for reconstruction and extension of chimney, and for roof top mechanical equipment relocated where they will not be visible from public thoroughfare. Recommend painting of face brick on reconstructed rear wing to mitigate contrast with adjacent historic brick. Existing exposed brick side wall to remain un-painted. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.
