Dear Mr. Levy:
During its meeting of 22 April, the Commission reviewed and approved the additions and alterations to The Corcoran Gallery of Art (SL 03-070) located at 1700 New York Avenue, with the exception of the new accessible entrance to the auditorium. This small but significant interaction with the existing structure requires a carefully considered approach in a contemporary design vocabulary, rather than a replication of the existing condition.
We commend the design team and look forward to experiencing this gift of architecture to the City. Should any questions arise, please feel free to contact the staff.
