Recommend AGAINST the revision to permit # 91207 to change the previously approved operable black canvas awning to a fixed awning with black vinyl laminated fabric as shown in materials received and dated 3 November 2006. No objection to the revision to permit #91207 for the revised externally illuminated signs as shown in supplemental materials received and dated 9 November 2006. Refer to the National Capital Planning Commission and the District of Columbia Historic Preservation Office for review. Suggest that if operable awning cannot be used as previously approved then the entire awning should be eliminated from the project, allowing the building overhang to provide weather protection, or use freestanding or table umbrellas.
