Letter

Dear Mr. Jaroch:

In its meeting of 19 June 2008, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the concept design for the perimeter security barriers and associated landscaping surrounding the Constitution Center at 400 7th Street, SW. The Commission members gave concept approval of the scheme with the provision that the project will be submitted for a final review once a lease is signed with a tenant that requires this proposed standard of perimeter protection. In addition, the Commission recommended that only one type of bollard be installed and that it should be the thinnest cylinder possible.

The Commission looks forward to the review of the final plans if the need arises. Alternatively, the Commission would welcome the installation of the previously approved design for a more open treatment of the site perimeter. As always, the staff is available to assist you and the design team with the final submission.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas E. Luebke, AIA Secretary
