Recommend AGAINST the issuance of a permit for the installation of two new internally illuminated signs and one new projecting double- faced blade sign at an existing building for Politics and Prose, as shown in materials received and dated 6 October 2023; internally illuminated and projecting signs are not permitted under the DC sign regulations for the Shipstead-Luce Act area and the proposed size of the signs exceeds that permitted under the regulations. Forward a new submission for signs that conform with the regulations for the Shipstead-Luce Act area when ready. Staff notes with regret that the base building permit was issued without referral for CFA review; permit applications at the District Wharf require CFA review.
