Recommendation

Recommend AGAINST the issuance of a permit for the modifications to an existing glazed storefront for the installation of a new ATM at an existing Wells Fargo bank, as shown in materials received and dated 5 June 2026, due to lack of consistency with the building's architectural composition and historic character. Recommend consultation with CFA and HPO staff on the location of the ATM, signage, and awning. Staff notes with regret that the redundant sign mounted behind the glass and the window graphics were installed without CFA review. Forward a new submission without redundant signs that conforms with the regulations for the Shipstead-Luce Act when ready. Refer to DC Historic Preservation Office.
