The commission regrets that alterations to the rear of the historic building, including enclosure of porch at second floor and alterations to fenestration on the first floor, were completed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to second floor porch enclosure and to first floor bay as shown in supplemental drawings dated 8 January 2014 which indicate use of 5/8 inch thick Artisan Hardi-siding between 5 1/2 inches wide posts on the second floor, extension of shed roof, panels below windows on first floor, removal of spot light fixtures, and replacement all-wood casement windows with wood simulated divided lite muntins. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design, including those made during DCRA technical review, must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to general concept design to remove existing brick and wood structures at north and erect new 2-story tall CMU with stucco addition with copper roof and window alterations per supplemental drawings dated 13 December 2013. File new submission at DCRA of working drawings, including dimensions and details, with application for review by the Commission.

Returned without Action. Concept application for two-story rear addition, site work and swimming pool was withdrawn by written request of applicant.

No objection to the issuance of the permit for proposed installation of solar panels on the roof as shown in supplemental drawings dated 8 January 2014 and photo documentation of mock up sample installation dated 18 December 2013, which indicate that solar panels will be located where they will not be visible from public thoroughfare, PROVIDED AC disconnect box mounted underneath the existing electric meter on front facade is as small as possible and painted to match the color of the wall. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design, including those made during DCRA technical review, must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to concept design for proposed film applied to glass on front doors and for alterations to rear, including repair of Jeffersonian windows with new three-panel storm windows, expansion of deck and new six-light door as shown in supplemental drawings dated 12 December and 16 December 2013. Replacement of rear windows was not approved and was deleted from scope of work. File new submission at DCRA of construction drawings, including details, dimensions and cut-sheets, with permit application for review by the Commission.

Returned without Action. Submission for proposed awning and signs was withdrawn at the written request of applicant. File new submission at DCRA of detailed and dimensioned drawings with permit application for review by the Commission.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations including alterations to storefront, all-wood replacement windows with wood simulated divided lite muntins and no screens, replacement sliding door, replacement wood blade sign and woven fabric awning with lettering no taller than 12 inches high reading 'Dog Tag Bakery', flagpole with American flag, and rooftop mechanical equipment as shown in Option B of supplemental drawings dated 8 January 2014 which indicate three smaller rooftop units and a metal louver screen PROVIDED equipment is not visible from public thoroughfare. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design, including those made during DCRA technical review, must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement of vinyl windows on second and third floor with all-wood 2/2 single-hung windows with 1 3/4 inch wide true divided lite wood muntins as shown in supplemental drawings dated 17 December 2013 which indicate existing brick mould and trim to be retained. Recommend fanlight on transom above entry door be replaced with glass transom sized to fit the opening and in a configuration that matches the transom on adjacent buildings in the row. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design, including those made during DCRA technical review, must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

Submission materials and a site visit on 12 December 2013 indicate that proposed replacement windows and doors at rear elevation will not be visible from a public thoroughfare. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed sign composed of letters no taller than 7 1/2 inches reading 'Little Penguin' as shown in supplemental drawings dated 2 January 2013 which indicate letters attached to wood sign panel PROVIDED sign brackets on M Street, which were not approved, are removed prior to the installation of new sign. Applicant removed existing sign on 30th Street and blade signs on M Street, which were not approved. No objection to painting the wood storefront the 'Paramount' color. Recommend that existing exposed electric conduits on facade of this individually designated historic landmark are removed prior to installation of sign. Note that the Foundation for the Preservation of Historic Georgetown holds an easement on this property. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design, including those made during DCRA technical review, must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit to replace sandstone trim with Brownstone Russet stone, provided size, profile, and tooling matches original stone and date stone to be repaired per drawings dated 6 December 2013. Contact Commission staff when sample stonework is ready.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed sign for 'Calypso St. Barth' composed of back-lit letters no taller than 8 1/2 inches pin-mounted to decorative metal beam above the entry doors, a 14 inch square plaque with the logo and name, one vinyl decal on the second storefront, and two woven fabric awnings mounted within the masonry opening as shown in Option 2 of drawings dated 6 December 2013, which indicates a straight valance. Scalloped awnings were not approved and were deleted from this permit application. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design, including those made during DCRA technical review, must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for one-story rear addition with areaway, new dormer windows, and a new single-car parking pad with brick garden wall and wood gate per drawings dated 11 December 2013. No objection to concept approval for new limestone front steps, landing, and threshold, new garage doors, new hand-crimped standing seam metal roofs painted gray and 7'-tall wood fence at north per drawings dated 13 December 2013.
