No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations, including new entrance porch, brick walkway to entrance with planting beds to either side, landscaping of front and rear yards, swimming pool and alterations to garage at rear, landscape plan and terraces with permeable paving as shown in supplemental drawings dated 7 October 2011 which indicate 4-inch change of grade between the driveway and the planting bed to the west of brick walkway on sand and gravel base and traditional detailing for the porch and columns. Proposed alterations to window openings on west facade were not approved and were deleted from this permit application. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

The Commission regrets that the stucco and wood siding were removed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed installation of new wood siding, window casing and door surround as shown in supplemental drawings dated 4 October 2011. Replacement of stucco was not approved and has been deleted from this permit application. Recommend consideration of returning the facade of the building to its original condition by removing the stone planter and replacing the entry step (currently tiled). Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

Returned without Action. Concept application for alterations to lower plaza at Washington Harbour was superseded by permit application under case OG 11-283.

The Commission regrets that folding windows, awnings and signs were installed contrary to previous OGB recommendations and that the entry door, signs, display window, light fixtures, and menu boxes were installed prior to review or permit. Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for two signs, one on each facade, composed of pin-mounted letters and logo as proposed. File new submission of complete sign scheme for Serendipity 3 after all items installed without approval are removed and windows conforming to approved design are installed.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations for new cornice, door and sign scheme composed of letters reading 'Pinkberry' and logo no taller than 12 inches high on a field of mill-finish aluminum tubes as shown in supplemental drawings dated 18 October 2011. Multi-color metal tubes were not approved. No objection to a single band of circles on storefront glass. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed recovering of awning with 9-inch-high lettering reading 'Five Guys' on valance ONLY as shown in supplemental drawings dated 22 September 2011 which indicate lettering on side panels was deleted. All additional signs on storefront glazing, which were installed prior to review or permit and were not approved, must be removed prior to installation of new awning. File new submission of detailed drawings for overall sign scheme for the building with permit application for review by the Commission. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to concept design for proposed wood and steel window and door alterations on east elevation and new steel and glass green house at third floor per supplemental plans dated 22 September 2011. File new submission of detailed drawings for alterations with permit application for review by the Commission.

No objection to issuance of permit for replacement of windows with Marvin all-wood double-hung simulated-divided-lites windows as shown in supplemental drawings dated 28 September 2011. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

The Commission regrets that alterations and new fence were installed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for existing vertical wood board fence PROVIDED caps are cut down to the level of top of fence, that fence is painted to match color of trim on house, that remaining CMU retaining wall is parged or covered with cementitious paint, and that installation of brick cap is completed on side of gate. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

The Commission regrets that alteration was begun prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for new steel flue to replace existing metal flue on south elevation, provided original hole through sidewalk is maintained and stack is one straight run and painted per drawings dated 16 September 2011.

The Commission regrets that new vinyl windows were installed prior to review or permit. Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for the existing vinyl windows on front facade which are not consistent with the original character of this building or the Old Georgetown historic district in general because the material and profiles are not consistent with the historic wood detailing. File new submission of an appropriate wood window with permit application for review by the Commission. Corrective work for the removal of the vinyl windows must be completed by 30 April 2012.

1) No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to lower plaza at Washington Harbour, including alterations to fountain and pool, seasonal installation of ice-rink over fountain, removal of steel architectural ornamentation at lower level storefronts, re-cladding of flood gates posts, and replacement of storefronts with a Nana wall system as shown in supplemental drawings dated 1 November 2011. 2) Request installation of mock-up storefront cladding with proposed color selection for review by the Commission prior to ordering materials. 3) The selection of light fixtures was deleted from this permit application. 4) No objection to revised concept design for outdoor service bars located where structures do not block visual axis to the river. File new submission of working drawings for outdoor service bars and for fountain within tower, including details, dimensions and cut-sheets for light fixtures, with permit application for review by the Commission. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to the upper plaza at Washington Harbour, including new landscaping, stainless steel cladding of first floor storefronts, replacement of every other Washington Globe lamppost with a trash receptacle, and new planters at fountain, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 1 November 2011. Light boxes were deleted from this permit application. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for three proposed door closings on west elevation and one new door on south elevation per drawings dated 16 September 2011.

The Commission regrets that original wood windows were removed and fiberglass replacement windows were installed contrary to previous recommendations. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed installation of custom made all-wood windows with insulated glass, weights, pulleys and cords as shown in sample window installation PROVIDED spacer bar is silver rather than black, stops beneath upper sash are removed, and width of putty glazing is reduced. New wood windows will match detailing of original windows on the row of houses. Proposed Weathershield replacement window, which is not appropriate to this 1889 historic building, was not approved and was deleted from this permit application.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement of windows at rear facade with Weathershield wood sashes PROVIDED that structural wood mullion separating the windows are retained in all three levels and the windows are sized to fit the masonry opening without fillers. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit to repair existing brick parapet and add new painted Kynar cornice to match existing galvanized cornice profile per drawings dated 28 September 2011.
