Recommend AGAINST concept design for partial demolition of historic structure and construction of five-story addition as proposed. All components of building, which is a contributing structure to the historic district, must be retained. Recommend further study of an addition behind existing structure that will be subservient to original building and not visible from public thoroughfare or the Key Bridge. Concept case has been inactive for a period of time. File new submission of revised concept design with separate application for review by the Commission when ready.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed 6-ft tall vertical board and batten fence to replace existing stockade fence atop concrete retaining wall partially on public space as shown in supplemental information received and dated 25 September 2006, PROVIDED that new fence meets public space requirements, and that fence's finished side faces public view on sidewalk and alley, and that supports are not visible. New fence must be painted or stained. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to front facade including new wood insulated window with true-divided-lights to replace front door and match detailing of existing windows, removal of stoop, and relocation of down spouts, and for alterations to rear for new window openings, swimming pool and garden fence as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 12 October 2006. Working drawings conform to approved concept under case OG 06-112. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed awnings and signs scheme including lettering on valance and on shop windows reading 'J. McLaughlin' as shown in supplemental information received and dated 27 September 2006. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement of existing Pella windows in front facade with 1/1 Marvin Ultimate double-hung wood windows to fill whole opening, using half-screens, and for alterations to rear facade for new window and door openings as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 22 September 2006. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed one-story rear addition, replacement of front door and windows on first floor level as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 5 October 2006. Working drawings conform to approved concept design under case OG 06-176. Replacement of rear windows and new garden wall have been deleted from this permit application. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations, including raising the roof of rear wing, new windows and door openings, repair of existing wood siding, new lead coated copper roof, gutter and down spout, excavation and enclosure of basement, skylights and new roof A/C units at rear, re-grading of rear yard, patio and new gate as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 22 September and 5 October 2006. Working drawings conform to approved concept design under case OG 06-133. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

Although the Old Georgetown Board reiterates their objection to opening a new curb-cut which would have an adverse impact on the character of the National Landmark Historic District of Georgetown, they recommend the review of the curb-cut be referred to the District of Columbia Government. There is no objection to the proposed design for the one-story garage addition with roof terrace as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 16 October 2006 which indicate a sliding gate on wheels and removal of railing on terrace planter, if it is not required. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

Returned without Action. Submitted materials and a site visit of 20 September 2006 indicate that proposed window replacements will not be visible from public thoroughfare. Refer to the Historic Preservation Review Board.

Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for pin-mounted back-lit sign composed of pin-mounted letters reading 'Toka' as proposed. Recommend sign be no larger than 12-inches located as close to the head of the second floor windows as possible, and that there be no surface electrical conduits or junction box. File new submission of revised drawings with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.

Returned without Action. Submitted materials and a site visit of 20 September 2006 indicate that proposed replacement fence will not be visible from public thoroughfare. Refer to the Historic Preservation Review Board.

No objection to concept design for proposed two-story rear addition as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 20 September 2006. File new submission of working drawings, including dimensions and details, and material samples, with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to storefront, replacement windows using wood double hung historic replicas of existing windows on the front facade, and for four-story rear addition with basement, PROVIDED up-lights on storefront cornice, which were NOT approved, be deleted; new brick piers be painted to match street facade, and windows be painted to match color of new storefront. Working drawings conform to approved concept under case OG 06-215. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval. No sign was reviewed at this time and must be submitted separately.

No objection to issuance of permit for revisions to previously approved permit, including proposed replacement of windows and door at third floor level roof terrace with Kolbe-Kolbe wood windows and door. Five-foot lattice at this location was NOT approved. Recommend lattice be no taller than 42-inches high to serve as railing, and that it be painted a dark color. Previously approved reconstruction of pergola has been deleted. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement of fire-damaged sashes with Kolbe-Kolbe sash replacement kits to match details of existing windows as shown in supplemental information received and dated 29 September 2006. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to storefront with 1-ft panel below window sill, and a Mt. Airy granite base, for alterations to facade on Thomas Jefferson Street and 2/2 windows, and for two new egress doors into rear alley as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 13 October 2006. Working drawings conform to approved concept design under case OG 06-256. No sign was reviewed at this time and must be submitted separately. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for proposed 6-panel door at rear of building. File new submission of detailed drawings, including dimensions, for new door matching previously approved doors under case OG 04-177, with new permit application for review by the Commission when ready. Note is made that applicant did not attend meeting where project was discussed. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review which must be resolved prior to new submission.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed mechanical equipment and exhaust vents on roof which are located to minimize visibility from public thoroughfare, or to repair of wood windows on alley as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 2 November 2006. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed sign composed of 12-inches high pin-mounted individually-fed back-lit letters reading 'Richey & Co. Shoes' as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 5 October 2006. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed reconstruction of masonry garden wall PROVIDED concrete block wall is faced with brick on both sides. No objection to installation of bollards on parking lot side.
