Because the Commission did not hold a December meeting, we circulated the designs of the Iraq and Afghanistan Campaign medals to the members for their comments. All of the members responded and the majority approved the designs of both medals with several suggestions for improvements to be considered.
During the Commission’s meeting of 25 January 2005, the members formally confirmed their approval of both medals with the same recommendations stated in my letter of 4 January 2005. The members were pleased to hear that their recommendation to remove Kabul from the map on the Afghanistan Campaign medal was accepted.
Should there be major changes made before the medals are issued, please contact the staff and we will assist you in determining if additional review is required. We look forward to the review of future items from the Institute of Heraldry.
