Dear Ms. Neely:
During its meeting of 19 June, the Commission received a report from its staff on the proposed design for the new seal for the Department of Homeland Security. The design had been circulated to the members for comment before the meeting so that the accelerated development schedule could be met before the seal's public unveiling. The members found the design to be a contemporarily-rendered, traditional design based on the Great Seal of the United States and appropriate for the Department.
The Commission formally confirmed its approval of the design.
