Letter
Dear Mr. Hunter:
In its meeting of 16 April, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed a second concept design submission for the construction of a new building and associated landscape at Burrville Elementary School, located at 801 Division Avenue, NE. Expressing great appreciation for the responsiveness to its previous guidance, the Commission approved the revised submission with the following comments and delegated the review of the final design to the staff.
In their discussion, the Commission members commended the D.C. Government for its leadership in developing an inspiring design that aligns with the principles listed in the E.O. “Making Federal Architecture Beautiful Again.” They noted that the high design quality of this project would serve as a new baseline standard for public schools in Washington, D.C.
Please coordinate the delegated final review of this project with the staff which, as always, is available to assist you.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
