Dear Mr. Harper:
In its meeting of 16 June, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed and approved the revised concept design for the replacement building of Dunbar Senior High School at First and N Streets, NW.
In their review of the project, the Commission members supported the proposed re–establishment of O Street and the interim recreational use of the planned lawn area on the north side of the street. They recommended consideration of solar shading on the building where needed, such as at the south–facing media center, which may make extensive use of computer screens and projection.
The Commission delegated review of the final design to the staff which, as always, is available to assist you.
