Consent Calendar: CFA Meeting — 19 October 2017

No objection to the temporary installation of sculptural artworks at five sites in the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District in association with the exhibition, No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man, at the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Renwick Gallery, as shown in materials received and dated 5 October 2017. The five sites are located at: the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and I Street, NW; 900 Block of 19th Street, NW; corner of 18th and I Street, NW; Connecticut Avenue median at K Street, NW; and 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. No objection to the final plans for the installation of three retractable bollards in each of the two driveways from Jefferson Drive to the north entry court of the USDA headquarters in the Whitten Building, as shown in materials received and dated 5 October 2017. This partial security project is in conformance with the approved concept design for the overall perimeter security for the Whitten Building (see case number CFA 15/MAY/14-1). No objection to the concept design for a new permanent Corridor 8 Entrance Pedestrian Access Control Point (PACP) on the northeast side of the Pentagon, as shown in materials received and dated 5 October, 2017. Refer to Virginia State Historic Preservation Office.

No objection to the final design for the rehabilitation of and site improvements for the Carnegie Library, as shown in materials received and dated 5 October, provided that the Commission is consulted in determining the final balance and illumination levels of the exterior lighting system. The other components of the final design conform to the previously approved concept design and related recommendations. Refer to DC Historic Preservation Office.

No objection to the concept plans for the proposed construction of an interim surface parking lot on Parcel 2 (Dorothea Dix Building area) in the St. Elizabeths East Campus for the Entertainment and Sports Arena, as shown in materials received and dated 5 October 2017, provided this interim surface parking lot is removed when additional structured parking facilities are provided as the East Campus is developed. No objection to the final plans for the rehabilitation of the 16th Street Bridge over Piney Branch Parkway, NW, as shown in materials received and dated 5 October 2017. This project includes: the replacement of the ornamental pedestrian safety fences; refurbishment of the existing bridge lighting fixtures; erosion mitigation surrounding the abutments; repairs to the concrete spandrel walls, railings, balusters, and sculpture pedestals; restoration of the bronze tiger sculptures; replacement of the approach timber guardrails; and new storm water bio-retention planters.
