No objection to the final plans for the installation of a test section of approximately 4,900-square feet of supported turf for temporary event-based vehicular access in the northwest quadrant of the Ellipse, as shown in materials received and dated 1 November 2018. It is understood that if this test section of green roadway is successful, a larger area of supported turf will be permanently installed to support special annual events on the Ellipse, such as the National Christmas Tree Lighting, the Pathway of Peace, and the Easter Egg Roll. No objection to issuance of permit for the rehabilitation of Montrose Park tennis courts, which includes removal of second unoriginal tennis court near the ropewalk and reorientation of the first court to the original east-west position, replacement of chain-link fence, installation of additional stone retaining walls and plantings at the R Street tennis courts, and installation of three underground bioretention facilities, per drawings received 12 October 2018, which indicate the historic gas lamps would be retained, new chain-link fence would be painted a dark color, and only six trees would be removed. No objection to the revised final design for the exterior lighting on the Carnegie Library in Mount Vernon Square, as shown in materials received and dated 2 November 2018.
