No objection to general concept design for proposed alterations to storefront and for one-story rear addition as shown in supplemental drawings dated 6 May 2009, which indicate retention of exterior walls and a masonry opening at first floor level to connect to addition. Recommend a masonry base for pilasters. File new submission of working drawings, including details, dimensions, cut-sheets, mechanical equipment and screen, awnings and sign, replacement and new windows, and material samples, with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed show window alterations including recessed glass transoms, doors, and sidelights and 12-inch backlit channel letter 'Aldo' sign per supplemental drawings received and dated 13 May 2009. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to Revision to Permit for reduction to wood landing previously approved 22 January 2009, per DCRA technical review, as documented in supplemental drawings received and dated 30 April 2009.

Returned without Action. Case for reconstruction of brick wall was withdrawn by written request of applicant.

The Commission regrets that awnings with signs were installed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit to replace existing awnings with two new awnings over shop windows as shown in supplemental drawings dated 20 April 2009. Awnings to have Sunbrella solid black fabric, installed within frame of windows. Lettering no taller than 11-inches high reading 'Betsey Johnson' is limited to valances. Installation must be completed no later than 31 July 2009.

The Commission regrets that sign was installed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for painted wood sign panel with lettering reading 'Yiro' as shown in supplemental information dated 5 May 2009 which shows new sign located between head of shop window and beltcourse. Existing bracket and remnant of previous sign on brick pier are not approved and were removed by applicant.

The Commission regrets that awning, signs and lighting were installed prior to review and without a permit. Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for existing awning and signs. Existing gooseneck light fixtures above second floor windows, and exposed electrical conduits were not approved and must be removed no later than 31 July 2009. File new submission of revised design, including detailed drawings, with permit application for review by the Commission no later than the 11 June deadline for the meeting of 2 July 2009. Note is made that a sidewalk cafe with tables, chairs and umbrellas was installed on public space without review or permit. Permit application for window and door replacement was withdrawn.

Returned without action. Although concept design was not approved as proposed, the case was superseded by permit application for replacement windows and new porch under OG 09-236. Note: During concept review, the Board expressed concern about the proposed re-grading of the rear yard, the location of the swimming pool, and the impact to the character by the removing of mature landscape.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to masonry openings to increase height of second floor windows on garage structure facing alley, and for new wood double hung insulated windows with 7/8-inch SDL muntins and no screens as shown in supplemental drawings dated 15 May 2009. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit. Metal louvered door was not approved as shown and was deleted from this permit application. Recommend a wood louver door and panel with uniform sill. File new submission of working drawings, including dimensions and sill, head, mullion and frame details, for door alterations with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement 6-ft vertical board gate and 7-ft fencing (including 1-ft lattice) per supplemental materials dated 21 April 2009.

The Commission regrets that windows and door were replaced prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for replacement windows and frames with Pella Architect Series Wood LX insulated double hung windows with simulated-divided-lite 7/8-inch muntins, custom-sized to each opening, with detailing, profile and brick mold to match adjoining property as shown in supplemental drawings dated 13 May 2009. Installation of approved design must be completed no later than 31 July 2009. File new submission of detailed drawings for custom wood door and operable shutters to replace existing with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.

Returned without Action. Submission materials and a site visit of 2 February 2009 (concept OG 09-076) indicate that alterations to openings at rear will not be visible from a public thoroughfare. Refer to the Historic Preservation Review Board.

The Commission regrets that projecting sign was installed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for existing projecting sign for 'The Treasury' PROVIDED sign is relocated lower so that bottom of sign is aligned with top of transom window. Relocation must be completed no later than 30 June 2009.

No objection to issuance of permit for removing two light fixtures/exposed conduit, installing one new sconce, and the temporary removal of existing awning in order to paint facade per supplemental materials dated 22 April 2009.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed window replacement at top floor to match placement, dimensions, details and finish of existing windows as shown in drawings dated 17 April 2009.

The Commission regrets that signs were installed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for awning with one sign on valance with lettering reading 'Subway' as shown in supplemental drawings dated 23 April 2009. Awning to have Sunbrella solid green fabric. Neon signs were relocated 18-inches behind the storefront glass. Sign applied to glass was not approved. Installation of approved design must be completed no later than 31 July 2009.

No objection to issuance of permit to install new painted wood 6-panel front door per information submitted 17 April 2009.

No objection to issuance of permit for 8'x2'-6" projecting canvas banner with 4 1/2 inches high lettering and logo for 'Janus et Cie' as shown in supplemental drawings dated 23 April 2009.

No objection to issuance of permit for wood stair and landing and stone pavers as indicated in supplemental drawings dated 27 April 2009.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed razing of garage structure, construction of new garage, re-grading or rear yard, brick walkways on sand base, retention and underpinning of west garden walls and reconstruction of east brick garden walls as shown in drawings dated 21 May 2009 which indicate wood garage door, and steel bridging for section of garden wall over root zone of magnolia tree to be protected. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed dormer on north slope of existing slate roof, dormer walls to be clad with salvaged or to match slate as shown in supplemental drawings dated 18 May 2009. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed addition of covered porch and alterations to rear, including replacement wood casement windows and alterations to masonry openings for windows and doors, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 15 May 2009. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit. File separate submission of detailed drawings, including landscape plan, with permit application for swimming pool for review by the Commission when ready.

No objection to issuance of permit for new sign composed of back-lit channel letters, 12-inch high and 8-inch deep, reading 'Diesel', and for applied letters on storefront as documented in drawings dated 17 April 2009. A projecting sign, which was not approved, was deleted from this submission.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed infill of garage door opening with pair of new single-glazed windows to match existing per supplemental drawings received and dated 12 May 2009 provided new brick and mortar matches original conditions. Second story operable wood shutters to match adjacent houses must be re-installed. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed sign composed of 10-inch high wall-mounted letters reading 'M & T Bank' and 14-inch logo as shown in supplemental drawings dated 7 May 2009.
