No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations, including two-story rear addition, removal of existing two-story rear porch, alterations to windows and door in historic building, skylights that will not be visible from public thoroughfare, and new door and window openings on side wing, as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 24 January and 21 February 2006. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval. Site and landscape work is not part of this permit review as it is undergoing separate concept review (see case OG 06-062).

No objection to concept design for proposed door surround as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 20 January 2006 PROVIDED it is narrowed to fit in the available space. Previously proposed shutters and alterations to cornice have been deleted from this application. The proposed basement entrance, which was not approved under the front stoop as previously proposed, has been relocated to a location where it will not be visible from public thoroughfare behind the gate of the side addition currently under construction (see OG 05-169). File new submission of working drawings, including dimensions, details and light fixture details, with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement-in-kind of slate on Mansard roof with Vermont slate to match dimensions, color and shape of existing slate, and for lining existing gutters with copper, which will not be visible from public thoroughfare. Recommend relocation of existing thru-the-wall a/c units and repair of masonry and roof on side addition. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to general concept for proposed alterations to front facade including dormers, new covering on awning with logo on slope and new full pane window on second floor PROVIDED awning valance is no more than 12-inches high and second floor windows have no mullions to match adjacent windows. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement of guard booths at Prospect and Canal Road entrances to Georgetown University. Working drawings conform to approved concept design. See previous Recommendation (OG 05-219).

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed reconstruction of two-door garage as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 17 February 2006 which indicate height of new structure no taller than adjoining garages and light fixtures on facade of garage and not mounted on carriage house. Note is made that permit application is pending final zoning review. Any modifications to the approved design as a result of further review in the permit process must be submitted to the Commission for approval.

The Commission regrets that masonry opening was made prior to final review and permit.

No objection to general concept for proposed three-story rear addition to replace existing addition, and for alterations to window openings on side wall as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 2 February 2006. Recommend further study to reduce height and size of addition, and research information on brick wall in front yard which is proposed to be removed. File new submission of working drawings, including dimensions, details and landscape plan, with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.
