Embassy of Italy

The Italian Embassy, designed by Piero Sartogo with Leo A Daly, was built in 2001 on a wooded site facing Massachusetts Avenue, adjacent to Rock Creek Park. Recalling the architecture of a Tuscan villa with heavy battered walls, the building is bisected with an open axis oriented to the Washington Monument, visible in the distance.
