The 2011 design of the Diplomacy Center by Beyer Blinder Belle creates a modern entrance addition within the forecourt of the original 1941 State Department building. The largely transparent addition engages the street and incorporates security screening, as well as exhibition space and visitor services; the project was completed in 2017. The CFA most recently reviewed the project in September 2011.
