Center Building, St. Elizabeths Hospital West Campus

The Gothic Revival Center Building by Thomas Ustick Walter, completed in the 1853, was the first building of the St. Elizabeths Hospital campus and has a commanding view of the city’s monumental core. The General Services Administration, as part of the redevelopment of the St. Elizabeths West Campus as the headquarters of the Department of Homeland Security, is currently working on proposals to restore and rehabilitate the historic buildings of this National Historic Landmark campus. The CFA most recently reviewed an adaptive reuse proposal for the campus's historic buildings in October 2016.
